VectorConnect Privacy Policy

The Robots for Good team is committed to protecting your privacy.

The VectorConnect app does not record audio nor video. Audio and video are streamed directly from device to device, just like typical video calls, and no such information is transmitted or recorded to outside servers at Yale or elsewhere.

The VectorConnect app collects user feedback (in the form of a single, anonymous satisfaction rating) and crash data through Firebase Crashlytics. Crash data includes information such as the time that the app crashed, operating system, and device model; but no personally identifiable information (e.g., a user’s email address). Crash data is transmitted and stored by Google on its servers. By using the app, you consent to the processing of crash data as described above.

The VectorConnect application may provide links to optional online surveys. The goal of these surveys is gathering demographic information and data about the way people use the application and interact with the Vector robot. None of the surveys ask for personally-identifiable information; you should ensure that you do not volunteer identifying information. Please maintain privacy and confidentiality. You may decline to participate in the surveys. However, your participation is affirmation of your permission for your child to use the VectorConnect app, and your child’s use of the VectorConnect App is your child’s assent.

Any information that you voluntarily provide us through VectorConnect will never be sold to other colleges, universities, non-profit organizations or business.

Please visit the following pages for more information about privacy and security in Firebase and Google’s privacy practices.

If you have any questions about the VectorConnect app, please contact the Robots for Good team at robotsforgood@cs.yale.edu.
